Part-Time Retail & Operations Associate

Raleigh, NC (Five Points) | In-Person

Send a brief note about yourself and your resume to skylar@insleefariss.com. We'd love to hear why this role excites you.

We're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated person to join our small but mighty team at the Inslee Fariss headquarters in Five Points, Raleigh. This is a hybrid role that blends retail and behind-the-scenes operations — perfect for someone who loves both the customer-facing side of a beautiful store and the organizational work that keeps a business running smoothly.

What You'll Do

Retail:

• Open and manage the shop on store days

• Provide a warm, elevated customer experience

• Merchandise and maintain the store's visual presentation

• Process sales through our POS system (Shopify)

• Assist with in-store events and activations

Operations:

• Manage inventory at our retail store

• Process and prepare local pickup orders

• Pack and ship custom orders

• Coordinate with our customer service team to fulfill orders from store inventory when needed (e.g., replacements, items not available at our fulfillment center), including preparing shipments with handwritten notes

• Pick up prints from our local printmaker

• Monitor and reorder store and shipping supplies (labels, boxes, packaging materials, cleaning supplies, etc.) — proactively keeping track so we never run out

• Run errands as needed to support day-to-day business operations

• Support with kitting, restocking, and product organization

• Help with general administrative and back-end tasks as needed

Schedule

Tuesday – Saturday, approximately 25–35 hours per week. Tuesdays are dedicated to operational and back-end work (the shop is not open to the public). Wednesday – Saturday are retail days.

Who You Are

• You're organized, proactive, and don't need to be told what to do next

• You take pride in the details — nothing is too small to do well

• You're a clear communicator who's comfortable working independently

• You're genuinely warm with customers and love creating a great experience

• You're comfortable with technology (Shopify, email, basic spreadsheets)

• You have reliable transportation for local errands and pickups

• Prior retail or small business experience is a plus, but the right attitude and work ethic matter more

Compensation

Hourly, based on experience. This is a 1099 contractor position to start, with potential to transition to W2 employment as the role evolves.
